Alright, in this lesson, I
will show you 13 uses of
the definite article –
‘the’. As always, there’s
a quiz at the end to test
your understanding.
Use number one is
something we discussed in
the previous lesson. This
is also the most important
use.
Use 'the' to talk about a
person or thing known to
your listener.
For example, "Julie has a
nine-year-old son. The boy
wants to be an astronaut."
Here, I first say 'a
nine-year old son' because
you don't know him yet.
But once I have introduced
him in the sentence, I
then say 'The boy' because
he is now known to you.
Here's another example:
"Can you answer the
phone?" If I say this to
you, then...

How to use articles 'a', 'an', and 'the' in English? - Basic English Grammar lesson

English articles ("a", "an", and "the") come before nouns. They help to communicate which thing you're talking about, similar to words like "this", "my", and "all". And they're confusing to a lot of English learners.

Articles are really, really hard!

If your native language doesn't use articles, they can be really confusing. The truth is, you might never completely master articles. Most non-native English speakers don't, even know if they're quite fluent and have spoken English for a very long time. That's mostly OK. Mistakes with articles don't usually get in the way of communication. Your listeners or readers will usually be able to figure out what you mean by guessing whether you meant "a thing" or "the thing".
So while you should try to improve your skill with articles, you shouldn't worry much about them. This video lesson by Niharika will clear your basic doubts for using articles correctly.

Uses of ‘being’ – English Grammar Lesson

‘Being’ is the present participle of the verb ‘be’. It is not used very often. In this lesson, you are going to learn the three basic uses of ‘being’.

1. ‘Being’ is used in the continuous tense to talk about a person’s action or behavior:
Example: You are being silly.
Example: He was being naughty.

Note: Do not use ‘being’ to talk about a person’s feeling.
Example: I am being delighted to meet you. (Incorrect)
Example: I am delighted to meet you. (Correct)

2. It is used in the present and past continuous passive voice to show continuity of the action in the present or past.
Example: Dinner is being cooked by mother. (Present continuous passive voice)
Example: A kite was being made by John. (Past continuous passive voice)

3. It replaces ‘as’, ‘because’ and ‘since’:
Example: Being late, he couldn't watch the match. (as he was late, because he was late, since he was late)
Example: Being a friend of the actor, I am often invited to his parties. (As I am a friend, because I am a friend, since I am a friend)

Episode 12, proper english, fuck, the many uses of the word fuck

Perhaps one of the most interesting words in the English language today is the word 'F*$k'. Out of all the English words that begin with the letter F, F*$k' is the only word referred to as ‘The F word.'

It's the one magical word that just by its sound can describe pain, pleasure, hate and love. F*$k,' as most words in the English language, is derived from German, the word 'Frichen' which means ‘'to strike'.

In English, F*$k' falls into many grammatical categories:

As a transitive verb for instance, “John f*$ked Shirley,” as an intransitive verb, “Shirley f*$ks.” It's meaning is not always sexual. It can be used as an adjective such as, “John's doing all the f*$king work.”
As part of an adverb, “Shirley talks too f*$king much.”
As an adverb enhancing an adjective, “Shirley is f*$king beautiful.”
As the object of an adverb, “Shirley is f*$king beautifully.”
As a noun, “I don't give a f*$k.”
As part of a word, “Abso-f*$king-lutely” or “In-f*$king-credible.”
And as almost every work in a sentence, “F*$k the f*$king f*$kers.”

As you may realize, there are very few words with the versatility of ‘F*$k.' As in these examples describing situations such as:

Fraud: “I got...

There, their, they’re – it sounds
like I just said one word three
times but those are actually three
different words. In this lesson, I
will show you how to use these
confusing words correctly. As
always, there is a quiz at the end
of the video to test your
understanding. Now before we talk
about the use of these words, a
quick note on pronunciation: all
three of these are pronounced
/ðer/ - the pronunciation is the
same, keep that in mind. OK, so
let’s talk about the first word –
‘t’ ‘h’ ‘e’ ‘r’ ‘e’. This word is
an adverb which means ‘that
place’. Take this sentence – “The
restaurant is over there.” It
means the restaurant is in that
place. So this is the opposite of
‘here’ which means ‘in this
place’. In fact, you can easily
remember this spelling – ‘t’ ‘h’

Many people are confused about the
correct use of ‘could’ and 'would’.
In this lesson, I will teach you
how to use these two modal verbs
without mistakes. There is a quiz
at the end of the video to test
your understanding. OK, there are
three main differences between
‘could’ and ‘would’ that you need
to know. So let’s start with the

‘Will’ and ‘would’. These two verbs cause a lot of confusion for English learners. So, in this video, I’m going to clear up that confusion for you. I will teach you the difference between these two modal verbs, and I’ll show you how to use them correctly without making mistakes. As always, there is a quiz at the end to test your understanding. Alright, there are three main differences between ‘will’ and ‘would’. Let’s start with the most basic use of the two verbs. We use the verb ‘will’ to talk about the future. One very common use is to make a prediction, or say what we expect to happen in the future. Take this sentence: We will be in Hong Kong by 8 pm tomorrow. That means, we are traveling to Hong Kong and I expect that if our flight is on time, we will be there by 8 o’ clock tomorrow night. This next sentence also talks about the future but it’s a little different....

I have been more productive most of my professional career ( same Company since 1977) because I use a PAPER planner. The concepts offered are basic, simple but HIGHLY POWERFUL. You must have to commit to the system described, be faithful to it and it will help. I explain how OUTLOOK Calendar is still my Ally with my Planner. #NOFLOATIESFORLIFE! That means you never write on a post-it-note or scrap piece of paper again. Your Planner will pay for itself many times over! This video was developed to help my team use it to be more productive in our very busy resort environment year round!
