My students were using a large slinky to learn about transverse waves and compression waves. They work through amplitude, frequency, energy and wavelength, as well as particle movement inside of a wave.

Simulated using the in-house CFD code, CNS3D, using HLLC Riemann Solver, WENO 9th order, Optimal explicit strong-stability-preserving Runge-Kutta (SSPRK).
