This lesson is an overview of the present perfect tense
What it looks like, how to use it and when to use it!
Subject + have/has + main verb (past participle form)
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
If you don’t feel confident using the present perfect tense in English yet… There are probably a few reasons why!
You need to know the past participle form of English verbs... And that can be pretty tricky with irregular verbs! 😳
And you need to understand how to use this tense! Perhaps you feel unsure about when to use the present perfect and when to use the past simple tenses.
I will explain all of this inside this lesson.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
When using the present perfect tense, you need an auxiliary verb that helps your main verb to function.
In the perfect tenses, the verb (to) have is always the auxiliary verb.
In the present perfect tense, the main verb is in the past participle form.
This is not difficult for regular past tense verbs. For regular verbs, the past participle form of the verb is the same as the past tense verb, so you just add -ed!
But irregular verbs are different and the only way to learn the past participle form is...

The difference between Present Perfect tense (We have gone) and Simple past tense (we went) – English Grammar Lesson
Take the quiz : http://www.learnex.in/present-perfect-tense-we-have-gone-vs-simple-past-tense-we-went/
In this lesson, you will learn the difference between the present perfect and simple past tense. Often, people get confused when to use the above sentence structures.
The Present Perfect tense: is used to speak about an action is completed in the present time period. This structure is always linked to the present time period and cannot be used to speak about an action that was completed in the past. It is also used to speak about an action that has no specified time. The verb is in the past participle form.
Example 01: I have watched three movies this week. (‘this week’ is the present week. Use the present perfect tense with terms like ‘today’ ‘this morning’ ‘this year/month’)
Example 02: I have completed my graduation. (time not specified)
Example 03: My uncle has gone to New York three times. (We use the present perfect because he exists in the present and so far he has gone to New York thrice)
Example 04: I have lived in London for seven years. (I still live in...

To describe an experience
The present perfect tense connects the past with the present. When using this verb tense, we can be talking about an action or event that occurred in the past but will be referring to how it relates to the present. We use the present perfect when describing certain life experiences.
Imagine that you and your friends are at university and you’ve just come back to campus from the summer vacation; you are all very excited to tell your friends about your amazing internships or the beautiful places you went or the wonderful times you had with your family. One member of the bunch says, This summer I hiked Mt. Everest. Not to be outdone, you might say, I have climbed Mt. Everest and several other high peaks. Again, we use the present perfect to describe actions and events which occurred in the past, which are also of particular importance in the present moment.
I have boated on three of the world’s longest rivers.
We have never sailed the Atlantic Ocean.
Lance Armstrong has won the Tour de France multiple times.
Jessie has been to Disneyworld seven times.
2 To describe changes over a period of time
We can also use the present perfect to describe events which occurred...

This is an English lesson about the past perfect tense.
The video starts with an example of when to use the verb tense.
You will then learn the form, in particular, the affirmative, negative and question forms with the appropriate contracted forms.
The affirmative form of the past perfect is made up of the subject + had + the main verb in the past participle form. "had" is the past form of the verb "have" being used as an auxiliary verb.
We then look at all the common uses and meaning of the verb tense.
The three main uses of the past perfect tense are:
1)To describe the first action or event in a series of actions or events from the past,
2)In reported speech when the reporting verb is in the past and the direct speech tense would be the past simple or the present perfect. Example: He said that he had liked the film.
3)In past unreal conditionals to describe an unreal situation from the past. Example: "If he had come to the party, I would have been pleased."
At the end of the English grammar lesson, there is an exercise for you to complete.
The accent in the video is a British English accent.

Here is an English grammar lesson about the form of the present perfect tense.
In this lesson, you will learn the affirmative form (positive), question form and negative form of the present perfect tense. I also explain the contracted forms for the affirmative and negative.
The present perfect is formed by a combination of the auxiliary verb "have" in the present followed by the past participle of the main verb. Example: "I have cleaned."
The past participle of regular verbs is formed by adding "ed" to the base form. I also give you the spelling rules of forming the past participle of other regular verbs.
The past participle of irregular verbs have no rules at all and you must simply learn them by heart when you learn a new verb. Some examples are be - been, find - found, do - done, go - gone.
The position of adverbs whne using the present perfect is very important. Generally we place the adverb between the auxiliary verb "have" and the past participle of the main verb. Example "He has JUST left the office."
At the end of this English grammar lesson, there are some exercises to test your understanding.
If you have any questions, please ask me in the comments section below the video lesson and I will...

The Past Perfect Tense (I had gone) - English Grammar lesson
Generally there is a lot of confusion between using the simple past and the past perfect tense. The past perfect tense always has a verb in the past participle form that is followed by ‘had’.
The past perfect tense is used when you want to say something happened before another past action. If two actions happened, the action that happened first comes in the past perfect, and the action that happened second, takes the simple past form.
Example 01: When I reached the station, the train had started. (‘had started’ is the past perfect tense. This shows, first the train started and then I reached.)
Example 02: Jane had read a lot before she went to the zoo. (‘had read’ is the past perfect to show that it happened first.
Example 03: Before the installation of the new software, productivity had been low.
Example 04: After I had had my dinner, I completed my work. (first I had eaten my dinner)
