This 15 min video walks you through the basic step you need to do to install the wiring, the jacks, and the patch panel for a small office Ethernet Network..
It is explained in plain, non-technical language so that any lay-person could grasp the ideas and techniques.
Near the end, testing is also explained. Testing is important so you don't get frustrated when connecting computers. You need to know your cable is tested and that it is not the cause of any problems.
Here's a summary of what happens in this video:
1. explanation of the cable runs from the central location to the data outlet locations.
2. the installation of the wall jacks
3. the termination of the cables to the patch panel
4. wire management and mounting of patch panel
5. Testing of cables for correct numbering and validation of connectivity.
Materials you will need:
Categorie 5e or 6 UTP (Unshielded twisted pari) cable
RJ-45 modular inserts (aka data jacks)
Wall plates with RJ-45 hole
12, 14, or 48 port patch panel
Network cabinet or 19" wall bracket (for panel)
Caddy-clip drywall mud rings.

Watch video! Learn how to run low voltage wires - such as coaxial for cable or CAT 5 for telephone.
The structured-wiring system is made up of three parts: a panel or module where all outside service enters the home; wires and cables throughout the house; and connecting hardware. Structured-wiring systems can come prepackaged, but a bundle approach without a plan can leave you with wasted outlets or no outlet where you need one. Develop a home-office power plan before you wire. It should detail where the computers, printers, phones, and media are set up and where conference calls and media viewing will happen.
A system is only as fast as its slowest component. The data capacity of copper wire is designated by the category, or Cat, of the wire and determined by its construction and how the wires are twisted. The main difference between the wiring designations is the frequency the wire is capable of transmitting. Frequency is rated in megahertz (MHz), also known as bandwidth. Cat3, for instance, is rated up to 16 MHz while Cat5 is rated at 100 MHz.
If you are considering structured wiring, it’s probably best to consider EIA-TIA 570-B. The residential telecommunications cabling standard was developed in 2004 as a...

Time laps of a network room rewire. We completely redid the network at this facility. This facility did not have a labeling scheme. Each user end location had random numbers. We remapped the entire facility with a new labeling scheme, relabeled each end of the cable and terminated them in their proper order. In one weekend we completely turned this mess into a showpiece that not only looks nice, but is fully certified for peak performance. For more information go to www.datatechprofessionals.com

From start to finish a network cable installation in Philadelphia for a new office in order to use VoIP and data wiring. Other installs listed on our site as well here http://www.bridgecable.com/network-cable-installation.htm
Complete network wiring for a newer Philadelphia office that is expanding and moving to a bigger location.
Here is the project notes from our own Philadelphia cabling tech:
Recently a team of four professionals from Bridge Cable Services successfully fulfilled a request for all new data, and voice connection in a renovated office space. The team arrived early for set up utilizing 8 boxes of Cat 6 wire, and their supply of top line equipment and tools to properly execute this job, and get this company up and running within a matter of 3 days. With the layout of the building, 8 boxes was the most practical way to execute the plan to install 28 data lines and 28 voice for a total of 58 cables. Without wasting any time these men got straight down to business by walking through, and becoming familiar with the rooms, the walls, and the pathways for running their wire according to code. Also, as they were working they encountered outdated telephone wires. They removed old telephone wire in accordance with current Pennsylvania fire...

If you've ever gone to buy an internet cable, you probably saw different types available. There are Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6 and others, but which do you need? Well all of these ethernet cables will work, but there are some differences depending on the speed required. In this video I go over the different types of ethernet cables and what each one does.
