Fossil fuels have powered human growth and ingenuity for centuries. Now that we're reaching the end of cheap and abundant oil and coal supplies, we're in for an exciting ride. While there's a real risk that we'll fall off a cliff, there's still time to control our transition to a post-carbon future.

A deeper analysis of the crises we face, and possible solutions we can work on right now can be had HERE:

CBSE class 10 Science - Sources of energy - Petroleum, Coal, Natural Gas are all known as the fossil fuels. Formation of fossil fuels happened millions of years ago. The dead plants and animals got buried into the oceans and rivers, and with the effect of Pressure and Temperature broke down into simpler products and the final product was the fossil fuels.
Coal was formed by the remains of the plants whereas the Petroleum was formed by aquatic marine life. Since it takes millions of years in the formation of the fossil fuels hence these are non-renewable sources of energy. Petroleum products are generally used for running the vehicles and the coal is majorly used in the thermal plants to generate electricity.

this is part 3 of the video series beneath the earth is not what we were told. in the previous videos...we discussed lava, the core of the earth, tectonic plates, pangea, the deepest hole, the deepest exploration of the ocean depth, the abyss, and much more!! to watch the entire playlist click below.

Fossil Fuel, Fossil Fuel in Hindi, Class 10 Science in Hindi, Class 10 Science

We have seen some of the issues involved in the conservation and sustainable use of resources like forests, wild-life and water. These can meet our needs perpetually if we were to use them in a sustainable manner. Now we come to yet another important resource – fossil fuels, that is, coal and petroleum, which are important sources of energy for us. Since the industrial revolution, we have been using increasing amounts of energy to meet our basic needs and for the manufacture of a large number of goods upon which our lives depend. These energy needs have been largely met by the reserves of coal and petroleum. The management of these energy sources involves slightly different perspectives from those resources discussed earlier. Coal and petroleum were formed from the degradation of bio-mass millions of years ago and hence these are resources that will be exhausted in the future no matter how carefully we use them. And then we would need to look for alternative sources of energy. Various estimates as to how long these resources will last us exist and one is that at present rates of usage, our known petroleum resources will last us for about forty years and the coal resources will last for another two hundred years.

Fossil fuels are formed by natural processes such as decomposition. They vary from hydrogen all the way to methane. They are nonrenewable resources because they take millions of years to form. The burning of fossil fuels causes mass releases of carbon dioxide which pollute the Earth. They are used to power houses and other electronics.-- Created using PowToon -- Free sign up at . Learn the basics about climate change and how burning fossil fuels adds extra carbon dioxide to the atmosphere, and how this then leads to climate change.

Fossil fuels, like oil, coal and natural gas, are the remains of living things from millions of years ago. They are mainly composed of carbon with varying amounts of hydrogen. When the petrol burns, it joins with oxygen to build up hydrogen oxide and carbon dioxide.

Before the world became industrialised by burning fossil fuels the carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere was about 0.028% tiny compared with oxygen at 21% and nitrogen at 78%, but enough to keep us warm. Without this natural blanket of insulating gas the earth would be too cold to support life as we know it. But this carbon dioxide released when fossil fuels burn adds to the existing carbon dioxide levels which are now nearly 50% higher than pre-industrial times. Although we get a daily supply of heat from the sun, the earth normally loses this (at night and in the colder seasons) so the average temperature of the earth remains constant.

But this status quo is starting to change: as humanity adds carbon dioxide into our atmosphere the extra layer isolates the heat and it cannot escape as easily. The earth cannot lose its...

Peak Oil is a Lie: Oil is Not a 'Fossil' Fuel - Origins of Oil.

In this video we have a brief conversation with Col. L. Fletcher Prouty about the manufactured scarcity of oil. Oil may be something very different from what we have been led to believe.

Leroy Fletcher Prouty served as Chief of Special Operations for the Joint Chiefs of Staff under President John F. Kennedy. A former colonel in the United States Air Force, he retired from military service to become a bank executive. He subsequently became a critic of U.S. foreign policy, particularly the covert activities of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) about which he had considerable inside knowledge. Prouty was the inspiration for the character "Mr. X" in Oliver Stone's film JFK.
