Please note: All the clips seen in this video were filmed between 2004 and 2006. The quality of both the clips and my videography from this time period is far inferior to what I do now. That said, I wanted to post some of these clips and I thought this would be the best way to do it. Let me know what you think and as always, enjoy!

This video showcases in-depth the White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad in Skagway, Alaska. This is definitely the top attraction in Skagway and worth every dime of the ticket price. The railroad links the port of Skagway with Whitehorse in the Yukon Territory. The railroad was constructed in 1898 during the legendary Klondike Gold Rush as transportation to and from the goldfields. From the late 1980's until now the railroad has been used as a tourist draw. If you like this Skagway, Alaska White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad video then make sure to give it a thumbs up!

As our train meandered across the unadulterated landscape, I found that I was reassuring myself that it was real. Such scenery…as though it was “too beautiful” to be true. I rode along with Awe, Wonder, and Amazement, as we all shared in an exchange of childlike fascination. While being a train ride, I’m inclined to default to recommending it, but truly, this stretch of track will lead you through a mere part of the heart of Alaska, but it will invite you to the center of your being, where you're reacquainted with your youth.
This ride was just over four hours, where passengers relaxed in their comfortable seats, while enjoying refreshments and narration, or enjoyed the brisk air on the cars’ “porches.” Lunch was enjoyed on the lower level of the car. All luggage, carry-ons included, were stowed, not to be seen again until disembarkation. I should note that the cars we rode in on this trip were private cars, not to be confused with Alaska Railroad’s Goldstar Service cars, found on its website; I indulged in one, though, to Seward: https://youtu.be/YMa7KNi1IvM
(Fun facts at the end of the video are from displays at the Talkeetna depot.)

This is what you see after you leave a Princess cruise ship docked at Whittier, Alaska, and get on a train for the Princess Wilderness Lodges. This video was shot over a period of two days between Whittier and Denali National Park on the Alaska railroad.
Note the cottonwood trees were tossing their seeds in to the wind, making it almost appear like it was snowing... except this was in the middle of summer! You can notice this beginning at about one minute in to the video. It is especially noticeable in the scene at two minutes in to the video.

Ever since I was a kid I had always dreamed of going to Alaska and eventually I made it, what inspired me? since I was four I remember I found a Pentrex video on VHS in the library that had a documentary on the Alaska Railroad I own the same video now on DVD. I made it with very hard work, dedication, and a much needed vacation I made the reservation to go "North to Alaska" as the song says. Videos of the trains and the train ride are included on two different classes on the Alaska Railroad, Goldstar, for first time visitors this class of service offers a car that is a coach, dome, and a dining car all in one you also have access throughout the whole train. Then there is adventure class it's more economical, but there is a Dome car you can ride as well as a bistro car where you can grab a quick bite. Goldstar includes meals and free beverages all the way with the price of the ticket. I'd say the scenery is well worth it, perfect vacation for an entire family to enjoy.

A video wrap up of our 7-week non-RV adventure to Alaska, while we left our bus conversion to be repainted and upgraded.
We traveled with just a backpack each by 7 different trains, 2 cruise ships, 3 buses, 3 tour boats, 2 RVs (not our own), a kayak, a river raft, a dog sled (kinda), various tour boats, Uber, transit trains and a plane. Whew.
So much fun, so many adventures, so many breathtakingly beautiful moments, so many dear friends..
We visited Vancouver, Seattle, Ketchikan, Skagway, Juneau, Glacier Bay, Whittier, Anchorage, Fairbanks, Denali, Kenai, Homer, Seward and Haines.
For a wrap-up of this trip including our costs, thoughts on how it went and links to the individual travelogue for each segment:
(This version has more stabilized audio than the first upload - our apologies, we're using a borrowed monitor and speakers at our temporary digs.)

Over the summer of June, 2017, I took a cruise on Norwegian Cruise Line's on the ship Norwegian Sun. We traveled from Vancouver on a 7 day cruise through Alaska, visiting ports like: Ketchikan, Juenu, Skagway, Glacier Bay, Hubbard Glacier, and eventually Seward. At Seward, I boarded the Alaska Railroad with an EMD SD70MAC leading with an EMD GP38 trailing. I rode The Alaska railroad for the first 3 days i was in Alaska, going to a new destination each day. the first day was when i got off my cruise and traveled from Seward to Anchorage. The next day we went from Talkeetna to Denali, and the next day we traveled from Denali to our final destination in Fairbanks. The trip was very memorable and beautiful! I met some amazing people on this trip and I'm very happy that I went on this cruise. Enjoy!

Enjoy this train ride on the Denali Star from Anchorage to Fairbanks, Alaska. This is a 12 hour train ride condensed into about a hour and a half of video. In many parts of Alaska there are no roads where people are living, and they are totally dependent on the train. You will see some of those people in this video.
In this video we travel over the 918 foot long, 296 foot tall Hurricane Gulch Bridge, as well as the Mears Memorial Bridge, which at 700 feet long is one of the longest single span bridges in the world. The weather starts sunny and nice, and ends in rain and overcast which is very common for Alaska.
Alaska sure does have a enormous amount of trees. It seems there are billions of trees out there. This was a fun train ride but slow going. Much of the landscape has changed little since the railroad was founded. Video was taken September, 2015.

Riding the 130N and 130S overnight freights between Anchorage and Fairbanks on the ARR Central and Mountain Subdivisions. It's unfortunate that I went through the best of the scenery in Denali National Park at night, but it was quite simply impossible for me to make this trip happen earlier in the year.

In June 2014 my wife and I took a vacation to Alaska. We took the Alaskan Railroad from Anchorage Alaska to Seward Alaska. We rode in the part of the car that it was surrounded by glass. I brought a Sony FDR-AX100 4K Ultra HD Camcorder to document the ride. This view was absolutely breathtaking.
